Mrs. Erickson's STEM Kit theme, Extraordinary People by Michael Hearst, brought history to life with hands-on challenges and creativity! Students learned about P. T. Barnum by putting together their own circus scenes, explored the accomplishments of Bessie Coleman by building and racing airplanes, and discovered the world of Harry Houdini through a Houdini Escape Challenge. Students worked to “lock” Houdini in a set and then used great minds, patience, teamwork, and determination to figure out how to help him escape. There were many challenges solved and lots of learning along the way! Great job to all of our creative thinkers and problem solvers!

Hands-on learning in action during our Buoyancy STEM Activity! Mrs. Erickson’s students were challenged to build a boat using only a 15 x 15 cm piece of tinfoil and see if it could hold 50 pennies. Through teamwork, creativity, and lots of trial and error, 2 groups were successful! Great job problem-solving and thinking like engineers! 🚤🪙👏

Ocean Fun was in full swing in Mrs. Berry’s summer school group! Students had a blast walking the plank, building bridges to drive across without falling into the “shark water,” creating beautiful ocean scenes and ocean masks, and designing boats to sail across the ocean.
