We wrapped up our Winter Olympics Reading Challenge, and what an incredible run it was! 📚🥇
Students earned medals for reading minutes and completing a variety of activities throughout the month. The excitement, dedication, and love for books were on full display!
The big prize? A pizza party for the class with the highest participation percentage… and the gold medal goes to Ms. Osowski’s 2nd grade class! 🍕🏆 They had the highest percentage of participation—way to go, readers!
We are so proud of all of our students for putting in the time to read! Keep turning those pages!

Our students are digging into learning—literally!
This week, Mrs. Erickson’s 4th graders wrapped up another year of learning about the coal mined right here in central North Dakota with our annual Cookie Mining Activity. Students experienced firsthand how the mining process works, from start to finish.
Each group started with different land values and had to purchase their own “mining tools.” Their mission? Carefully remove the chocolate chips (coal) using only the tools they bought—no hands allowed! 🍪⛏️
After mining, the real challenge began. Students had to reclaim the land and restore their cookie as close to its original state as possible. Then came the big question: Did they make a profit… or take a loss?
This hands-on activity is always a favorite and gives students a fun, real-world look at economics, land management, and natural resources in North Dakota. Great job, miners! 👏

This is a great opportunity for our Mustang volleyball players!

On Friday, our elementary students enjoyed another awesome round of Connections Time! 💙
Each group spent time together doing a variety of fun activities—laughing, creating, playing, and most importantly, building relationships. These moments may look simple, but they mean so much. When students and staff take time to connect, it strengthens our whole school community.
We love seeing these connections grow! 🌟

Midway Public Schools will have a two-hour late start on Thursday, February 19. There will be no morning ESP or activities.
Due to projected weather conditions and concerns for the safety of our students and staff, Midway Public Schools will be conducting a Virtual Learning Day tomorrow.
Look what the kids found at recess on Friday!! A heart, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Today is School Resource Officer Day! 👮♂️💙
While we don’t have just one dedicated SRO, we are so fortunate to have several officers who regularly stop by, check in, and walk through our building. Their presence means so much to our students and staff.
A huge thank you to the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department for your continued support and partnership. We truly appreciate Andy and the entire crew for helping keep our school safe and connected.
